Imagining the travel experience 5+ years out with an IoT assisted prototype hotel room and its experience ecosystem.

Created a circular user journey to determine opportunities and how the in-room technology can inform and inspire other touch points through different phases of the travel experience.

Prototype room designed to be brand agnostic to allow concepts and various user scenarios stand out.

Automated immersive storytelling

In-room devices were orchestrated to highlight signature moments and projection mapping was used for telling the story of how room enhances the guest experience for various personas and user scenarios.

Voice activated digital mirror for multi-modal interaction

Digital mirror with option to connect to bed sensor and personal wearable devices for customized exercise and nutrition recommendations, room controls and personalized messaging.

Guests can customize the in-room artwork throughout their stays using their online profile.

Opportunities:

  • Local or brand-specific artist collaborations.

  • Image galleries curated by artists/influencers.

  • Guest’s own imagery to allow personalization of hotel interior.

Low fidelity interaction prototype

Quickly testing and optimizing the projection mapping at scale, aligning on the storyline in real life before developing the final technology setup and artwork.

Design thinking workshops

Creative workshops with stakeholders, partners and potential users in Bethesda, San Jose and London.

The room suggest exercise routines or food/beverage depending on guests’s physiological data or schedule.

In-room Amazon cubby

Through Amazon partnership, pre-ordered items are delivered into an in-room locker to be ready upon arrival.
